Miraculous Castor Oil

by Cheysa Brito

I've heard of Castor Oil for the first time from my grandmother.

She recommended I use it, as it helps to care, stimulate and grow your hair follicle, and when I talk about hair, I mean your scalp, brows and lash hair.
Furthermore, Castor Oil is a multi-purpose vegetable oil that people have used for thousands of years. According to the Science Direct website, it is derived from castor beans and has a variety of health benefits.
However, you must be wondering where these Castor Beans comes from?
The castor-oil plant is cultivated in India, China, Brazil and the oil is extracted from the plant's beans. The Castor Plan looks as you see in the picture below.
As mentioned, there are several benefits from it today; we will explore 3 of those.
♥ Hair, eyebrows and eyelashes
Many people, like me, use castor oil as a natural hair conditioner.
My hair tends to be dry and frizzy. I significantly benefit from its intense moisture and deep hydration.
Health Line explains that applying fats like Castor Oil to the hair helps to lubricate the hair shaft, increase flexibility and decrease the chance of breakage. I personally use it nightly on my lashes and brows and twice a week on my scalp. My hair has never looked so healthy.
Castor oil may benefit those who experience dandruff, a common scalp condition characterized by dry, flaky skin on the head.
It is also the perfect nourishing treatment after a Lash Lift service.
You simply need to add a couple of drops to your fingertips and massage your lashes and brows. Leave it overnight and wash your face, as usual, the following morning. Repeat this process for your scalp; you just need to increase the amount of oil used.
♥ Moisturise your skin
As stated in Health Line, Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid.
These fats act as humectants and can be used to moisturize the skin. They retain moisture by preventing water loss through the outer layer of the skin. Think of it as a glass of water left under the sun; Castor Oil prevents this water from evaporating.
Another miracle about Castor Oil is that unlikely to be popular moisturizing products found in stores that contain potentially harmful ingredients like preservatives, perfumes and dyes. It can help reduce your exposure to these additives yet guarantee that your skin will absorb the maximum benefit.
Additionally, castor oil is affordable and can be used on the face and body.
♥ Natural Laxative
Health Line explains that studies have shown that Castor Oil "increases the movement of the muscles that push material through the intestines, helping to clear the bowels".
This stimulant laxative acts quickly and are commonly used to relieve symptoms of constipation.
When consumed orally, Castor Oil is broken down in the small intestine, releasing ricinoleic acid. The ricinoleic acid is then sucked in by the intestine, stimulating bowel movement.
